Movalis notes
Available in the generic name meloxicam, movalis belongs to a class of drugs known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs. They are used in treating patients suffering from pain, inflammation, tenderness and stiffness that are resulted by osteoarthritis. It functions in the body by inhibiting the production of a substance that is responsible to bring out pain, inflammation and fever. Other than treating pain and inflammation, movalis is also used in curing ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis sometimes.
Movalis is available in the form of tablets that can be taken orally. Stop taking this drug if you are allergic to it or to similar drugs like aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen or other NSAIDs. It is advised to talk to your doctor before taking this drug if you are suffering from any of the following conditions like: high blood pressure, stomach problems (ulcers), heart failure, blood clotting disorders, swelling of the feet, hands, ankles, lower legs or fluid retention, kidney or liver disease etc. Pregnant women or those who are planning to become pregnant should avoid this medicine. Nursing mothers are also advised to avoid movalis.
There are numerous side effects reported with the usage of movalis; some of the common side effects include: diarrhea, heartburn, cough, sore throat and runny nose. Some chronic side effects of movalis usage include: black, tarry and bloody stools and bloody vomit, flu-like symptoms, coffee grounds like vomiting material, unusual weight gain, skin rash, hives, itching, stomach problems, swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs, extreme tiredness, loss of energy, yellowing of the skin or eyes, difficulty breathing or swallowing etc. Taking over-dose of this drug can also cause serious side effects like vomiting, seizures, difficulty breathing, stomach problems and even coma.
